Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Benson Law Offices, PSC (“the Firm,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit nedbensonlaw.org (the “Website”) or contact us through it. It does not cover information you provide once you become a client; that information is governed by our engagement agreement and our professional duty of confidentiality.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, phone number, the type of legal matter and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the server hosting the Website may record standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. These logs are used only to keep the Website secure and working. The Website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, social media plugins or any other tracking technology (see our Cookie Policy).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the Website. Please do not send confidential details or protected health information (PHI) through the contact form.
2. How we use information
- to respond to your inquiry and schedule a consultation;
- to check for conflicts of interest before agreeing to represent anyone;
- to protect the Website against spam, abuse and security incidents;
- to comply with legal and professional obligations.
We do not use your information for marketing without your separate consent, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
3. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share information only with:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf: our email provider (Zoho Corporation), which delivers and stores messages sent through the contact form, and the company that hosts the Website. They may use it only to provide services to us;
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, court order or professional rules, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
4. Data retention
Messages from prospective clients who do not become clients are kept for up to [24 months] — long enough to respond, keep conflict-check records and meet professional obligations — and then deleted. If you become a client, your information is kept as part of the client file in accordance with applicable record-retention rules. Server logs are kept for a short period set by the hosting provider.
5. Security
The Website is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the contact form sends your message directly to our email account without storing it in a website database. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send confidential information through the Website.
6. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, subject to legal and professional obligations that may require us to keep certain records. Depending on where you live, state law (for example, Kentucky, California, Virginia, Colorado and other states with consumer privacy laws) may give you additional rights, including the right to appeal a decision about your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email info@nedbensonlaw.org or call (859) 413-5488. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because the Website does not track visitors across sites or over time, there is nothing for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off; the Website behaves the same way whether or not your browser sends them.
8. Visitors outside the United States
The Website is operated in the United States and is intended for people seeking legal services in Kentucky. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States. Where data-protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your information on the basis of your request to contact us and our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries and checking conflicts, and you have the rights described in section 6.
9. Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
